Traditional method of burnishing a painting with an agate (stone), typically used in the miniature paintings

Burnishing – An old method followed by miniature painting artists to rub the painting sheet from the back using smooth burnishing stone , after applying a layer of base color. It helps in settling the stone pigment into the sheet to make it permanent as well to provide galze which makes the paintings shine and stand out from the distance.
